STEP 3: DO I MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERS?

To be considered as a candidate the Construction Engineer position, you must meet the minimum education and experience qualification requirements listed below.

Education Specialized Experience
BA/BS degree in related field 1-3 years

To determine if you meet the minimum requirements, please answer the following questions:

Education
1. Do you have a BA/BS degree in one of the following fields: Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering? YesNo 
Specialized Experience
1. If you answered "Yes" to question 1 under Education, do you have at least 1-3 years of specialized experience obtained on major vertical construction projects requiring you to coordinate architectural/engineering details, shop drawings, cost control, and schedules at construction field sites? Examples of specialized work experience include:
  • Managing and supervising vertical construction projects.
  • Reviewing and checking construction drawings and specifications.
  • Inspection of construction work.
  • Responsibility for managing financial elements of a construction project, such a budget and payments.
  • Application of test procedures and equipment used on construction projects.
  • Application of safety practices and procedures to construction projects.
  • Application of quality control and quality assurance practices and procedures to construction projects.
  • Development and application of construction scheduling techniques.
  • Administration of construction contracts.
  • Application of computer software to the management of construction projects.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Leadership and the ability to get the cooperation and confidence of co-workers, supervisors and subordinates.
