  • Ensure the inviolability of diplomatic pouches and their secure delivery throughout the world.
  • Safeguard and escort diplomatic pouches containing classified and sensitive material between U.S. diplomatic missions overseas and the Department of State.

Security Engineering Officer

  • Manage technical and information security program, projects and resources
  • Conduct technical security assessments and recommend upgrades
  • Plan and conduct surveillance countermeasure surveys
  • Identify and analyze computer and network security risks and recommend measures and system requirements
  • Specify, design, procure, install, and certify security equipment and products for technical security and information technology systems.

Security Technical Specialist

  • Play a vital role in the protection of Department of State facilities and personnel from technical espionage, crime and terrorism.
  • Install sophisticated security equipment including: intrusion detection systems, closed-circuit televisions systems, vehicular and pedestrian access systems, metal detectors and explosive detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment.

Diplomatic Security Special Agent

  • Manage a range of programs designed to protect Department of State personnel, facilities and information.
  • Advise Ambassadors on all security matters.
  • Protect the Secretary of State and visiting foreign dignitaries.
